Do You, Girl

Be all of which woman is capable.

This is a statement that I love and cherish today but didn’t truly appreciate until I started on my path to owning my own business.

Most of you may not know that I attended an all girl Catholic high school and this was part of their mission statement. It was one of those things that we were told at least once a month in some assembly or another and we would all understand it but not really appreciate it. I mean, we were angsty teenagers after all. All we cared about was the test we have to prepare for next week or who was asking who to the next dance. We still had to figure ourselves out but little did I know that, years later, this would be the biggest motto for doing just that.

I think we are pretty lucky these days to grow up in a time where women have so many opportunities to do whatever they want but I feel as though, with the media influence and the factors of striving for perfection, we forget about who we are. Being all of which woman is capable doesn’t mean being perfect. It means striving to be the best that you can be whether that is a doctor, a lawyer, an actress, a mom or an entrepreneur. Do it to the best of your ability and own it. There may be times that I wish I had more money or maybe I was in a different job because I see the life that someone else is living but then I remember that I am doing what I was made to be doing. I am a creative. I’m a business owner. I’m a photographer. I’m a wife and a dog mom. I am proud of all that I am and capable of doing. There are times when I'm not going to be perfect and I'm going to mess up but that doesn't make me any less capable of being the best that I can be.

So to all my #girlbosses out there who may be reading this and have those days where you question what you are doing, whether its your dream job or not, stop for a second and tell yourself “I got this girl".. and remember to be all of which woman is capable.

And don’t forget that sometimes our friends need some encouragement as well, so today, go ahead and tell them that you think they are awesome. Everyone loves a little pat on the back some times.
